Bureau of Composition, Compilation and Translation (BCC&T) is one of the oldest intuitions in the country that has produced enormous scientific and scholarly work and rendered incredible services in the fields of translation, compilation and the development of scientific terminologies in Urdu. This institution was established under the leadership of Late Major Aftab Hasan with the idea to promote Urdu language and to produce scientific, academic and intellectual literature in Urdu and other languages.
Urdu was declared as a National Language of Pakistan under the 1973 constitution and it was also resolved that Urdu will be the medium of instruction in higher educational institutes and the official language of Pakistan. This resolution elevated the responsibilities of this institute, and various books and dictionaries were published to facilitate academicians, researchers, translators and scholars. So far, BCC&T has published more than 300 books that have gain acceptance both nationally and internationally.
In 2016 when the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the implementation of Urdu Language in all official work, a number of government organizations contacted BCC&T and demand for the books and dictionaries published by BCC&T increased significantly.
A scholarly research magazine under the title of Jareeda is regularly published by this institution majorly on the theme of languages, religion and philosophy. This magazine is rendering its services for the last 50 years.
The books published by BCC&T on the history of Pakistan have gained international credibility. Many of the books that were published by BCC&T are also the part of the curriculum of many universities of the Country.
Keeping in the view of enormous work of this institution, BCC&T has decided to launch “Online Web System” through which the books and relevant material published by BCC&T will be available to the general public.
I wish all the success in the future endeavor of B.C.C & T/KU Press.
